As a young girl, I always wanted to become a Fashion Designer and started sewing when I got my first sewing machine at 8 years old.
In high school, I discovered film photography and spend most of my hours in the darkroom, creating and experimenting. I dreamed of combining my love of photography and fashion into a career one day.
I eventually graduated from University of Guelph-Humber with a BAA in Media Communications specializing in Creative Photography.
I still have my passion for fashion and designing. I've have created countless one-of-a-kind pieces, usually for my kids and I but also unique piece for my client closet.
The idea of creating art; using my hands to bring my vision into a tangible piece, it's what I love about Fashion but also what I love about Photography. It's a creative process that is not ever the same. Every piece, every collaboration has a special story and holds different memories.
It's always exciting meeting new clients and I'm honoured when you choose me to tell your story.
Let's make memories together 😊
After my studies, I began working at Magenta Studios (Toronto and Vaughan) in 2005, working from a Photographer up to Assistant Manager and finally to Studio Manager. Over my 8 year long career there, I met and photographed over 3,000 families, specializing in my work with children. I became known as the go-to photographer for children of all ages.
In 2013, I started my own freelance work, allowing me to take on personal projects, share my vision and tell stories that speak to me 😄
As a photographer, I try to capture everything as genuinely and as joyfully as I can. When I meet my clients, I get to know a little about them. I engage their children in conversations, make them feel like they are a part of the photo session process, I give them choices and make things fun and relaxed. Children are very intuitive beings, it is very important to gently encourage but not place any pressure on them to perform in front of the camera.
When preparing children for their session, I advise parents to talk to them positively about the session, show them photos of the room/studio, ask them what they see and what they are excited for. Show them a photograph of their photographer, Fefe who will have fun with them and capture their best smiles.
Show them their outfits ahead of time and make sure they are comfortable (comfort is key, even with us adults) so they feel confident and great about themselves. Let them bring a special toy to their session to help them feel a sense of home when they are away from home.
In my sessions. I give direction and encouragement with a lot of positivity. I pay attention to what children have to say, making them feel listened to, valued and important because they are!
It's all about making it a fun and memorable experience for all. When you look at your photos from our session, what you will remember are the happy memories we made together 🥰
